Electrolysis Hair Removal
Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method for permanent hair removal.
Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that treats each individual hair follicle using a tiny sterile probe and electrical current.

Unlike other hair removal methods like Waxing, Shaving or Laser hair removal, which is classed as "hair reduction" Electrolysis completely destroys the follicle's ability to regrow hair, this means once the hair is treated properly... it's gone for good.
How Does Electrolysis Work?
A very fine probe is gently inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle (we do not pierce the skin). A small current is delivered to the hair root and over time, this process will permanently destroy both active and dormant hairs within the follicle. Because of this, hair growth will become thinner and finer and eventually will stop growing completely.

When electrolysis is performed, it creates follicular destruction and cauterises the blood supply to which the hair lies. Therefore, overtime this will prevent other hairs growing in it's place. This is why electrolysis is well know as the only permanent hair removal methods available.
Electrolysis hair removal can be performed on every skin type, colour, gender and hair type. Therefore we can offer this treatment to men and women of any skin colour and ethnic background, which makes this premium skin treatment accessible to all.
Unwanted hair causes enormous distress, as anyone who has suffered with it will understand and often brings a sense of isolation and poor self-esteem. Many medications cause or stimulate unwanted hair growth and hormonal changes within the body, such as during puberty, pregnancy and menopause.
This treatment is safe, reliable and gentle. Therefore electrolysis hair removal can target hairs on the face, including the lip, chin and other small areas such as the underarm and nipple area. We understand that anyone can have insecurities regarding excess and unwanted hair, for both men and women.

Electrolysis Vs Laser Hair Removal
Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis Hair Removal are two popular long-term hair removal methods. Both work by targeting hair follicles located under the skin’s surface.

Laser hair removal method can reduce hair growth by 85-90%. This is a satisfactory long-term solution for most people, but others may need to follow with electrolysis. It is particularly efficient for treating larger areas of unwanted hair growth, such as legs, bikini and chest/backs.
Laser Hair Removal works by directing controlled pulses of light into the skin, which penetrate the epidermis and are absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair shaft. This energy is converted into heat which destroys the follicle. This damages the follicle enough to significantly slow and reduce hair growth. Although the effects last far longer than home hair removal methods, such as shaving, laser therapy doesn’t create permanent results. As although the actively growing hairs have been destroyed from the follicle it doesn’t stop new growth developing later on, typically stimulated by hormonal changes.

Electrolysis on the other hand, produces more permanent results. Electrolysis is exceptionally versatile and may also be used anywhere on the face, including delicate areas such as sideburns, eyebrows, upper lips and chins. All skin colour, hair types, including grey, white, red, and blonde hair, can be treated with electrolysis. Additionally, electrolysis can assist with conditions such as Polycystic Ovaries (PCOS) and other hormonal growth imbalances.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. Many factors influence hair growth, so you will need to return for several electrolysis visits.
For electrolysis to work, your hair needs to be in its growing phase (it also has resting and shedding phases).
Most clients return once a week or every other week as needed. Each treatment lasts between 15 minutes and one hour and it can take anywhere up to a 12 - 24 month's to complete all the needed sessions.
The good news is that the unwanted hair will be gone forever once the series of treatments is complete.
What To Expect
Before Electrolysis
You will be required to come in for a consultation before we can start your treatment plan, this is so we can go through a thorough medical check and ensure the treatment is right for you. During consultation we will do a small patch test on 2-3 hairs, this gives you the opportunity to experience electrolysis and how feels, providing a better understanding of the treatment and to make a more informed decision as to whether you go ahead with the treatment.

During Electrolysis

You’ll feel a sharp sting or temporary warmth as each hair follicle is treated. How much the process hurts depends on how you react to pain and the area being treated.
After Electrolysis

You should avoid activities that can irritate your hair follicles, including:
Side Effects & Aftercare
Electrolysis commonly causes redness. Right after each session, you’ll see some redness in the treated area. This can last a day or two.
Some rare side effects, if the treatment is not done properly, can include:
-
infection
People with darker skin may also develop dark spots, but these are usually temporary and don't require treatment.
Myths About Electrolysis
Some common myths about electrolysis include:

1. "It's a quick, one-off treatment"

-
The Myth: You can walk in for electrolysis, get your hair zapped once and be done forever.
-
The Truth: Hair grows in cycles (active, transition, and rest) and electrolysis can only destroy the follicle during the active growth phase. A full course of treatment typically requires regular sessions spanning 12 to 24 months.
2. "Electrolysis is very painful"

-
The Myth: The process feels like torture and is too painful for sensitive areas.
-
The Truth: While not completely pain-free, most clients describe the sensation as a quick pinch or a mild, tingling heat. Discomfort varies by area and pain tolerance, this will vary from client to client.

3. "It only works on certain hair and skin types"

-
The Myth: It only works on light hair or requires dark skin to be effective, similar to laser hair removal.
-
The Truth: Unlike laser hair removal, which targets pigment, electrolysis destroys the individual follicle itself. This makes it highly effective for all skin tones, skin types, and hair colours (including grey, white, red and blonde hair).
4. "Laser hair removal is exactly the same, but better"

-
The Myth: Laser technology has rendered electrolysis obsolete.
-
The Truth: Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction, whereas electrolysis achieves permanent hair removal. Lasers can sometimes trigger paradoxical hair growth (an increase in hair in treated areas) and require maintenance. Electrolysis leaves no room for hair to return once the follicle is dead.

5. "It causes permanent scarring"

-
The Myth: Electrolysis will inevitably leave permanent marks or scars on your skin.
-
The Truth: When performed by a licensed, experienced professional, the risk of scarring is minimal. Scarring typically only occurs if the practitioner misuses the device settings or if the frequency is set too high.
6. "At-home devices work just as well as professional sessions"

-
The Myth: Buying an at-home electrolysis wand or device saves money and yields identical results.
-
The Truth: Professional electrolysis machines are highly specialized and require specific, localized training to operate. At-home devices use different technologies or are marketed loosely; they lack the clinical intensity needed to permanently destroy the hair's blood supply.
Timeline & Costs
Hair grows in distinct cycles and electrolysis can only destroy a follicle when the hair is in its active growth phase. Because of this, you will need multiple consecutive treatments.

-
Frequency: Sessions are usually booked every 1 to 2 weeks initially, this is so we can get an even distribution across the treatment site and ensure we are treating every hair in the area. This will taper off as hair growth thins out.
-
Duration: A full clearance plan can take anywhere from 6 to 12+ months to fully complete.
-
Cost: Pricing is structured around time blocks (e.g. 15, 30 or 45 minutes). pricing starts at £32 per 15 minute session. please visit our Online Booking platform to see full pricing structure.
